The  highlights of this trip includes visiting South Gambia excursions , monkey park, Game Safari & Lion Walk Adventure, Drive  into Banjul and hop on the local ferry to Barra, Take breakfast in bintang bolon then have a boat trip to Kunta Kinteh island, Breakfast in bintang bolon then Depart coming down to makasutu cultural forest, Banjul highlights, Leisure day at the beach & senegambia night life.

Day One: Arrival

Upon your arrival at the airport, the guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris will welcome you and then transfer you to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day Two: South Gambia excursion, Monkey park

This morning, you will visit the Monkey park where you can spot two out of three kind of monkeys in the Gambia and these are the green velvet monkey and red colobus on the trees. Then drive to Bakau at the Crocodile Pool. This is a pond full of crocodiles, of which people used to belief (some still do) belief it had a “healing power”. Sprinkle yourself with this water and it will prosper pregnancy, we pass by Serrekunda, the largest town in the Gambia with over 200.000 inhabitants. We have an interesting stop by the animal meat market, and during a rounded tour of the market the guide will inform you about the meat culture of the Gambia and other traditions. Our next stop is the Brikama, Gambia’s second largest town, with over 150.000 inhabitants. Here we visit the wood carving factory and it’s from here you can buy cheap and beautiful carvings made of mahogany and other tree types. Lunch break at the Paradise Beach Bar & Restaurant and proceed to Tanji fishing village. Tanji is a bigger fishing village in The Gambia, then continue to the  hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day Three: Game Safari and Lion walk Adventure

Another exciting day, after breakfast, we will drive to The Fathala park which is located 12 kms to the north of the Gambia and Senegalese border. Drive to Banjul the capital city of the Gambia, where you will join a public ferry to Barra and experience the hustle and bustle of the local people. After approximately one hour crossing on the river Gambia, you will reach Barra, take a safari jeep and continue to drive through numerous villages before reaching amdalaye / karang or the Gambian & Senegalese border for passport control. You will then enter Senegal and the Fathala park. Spend two hours in the reserve and enjoy the natural environment of bush where you will get to see wild animals such as zebras, rhino, giraffes, and antelopes. Enjoy and experience Lion walk Adventure at least once in a lifetime. Take the opportunity to interact with our lions and accompany them on foot. An unparalleled experience that offers insight into the behaviours of this species, with lots of photo opportunities. Then drive back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day Four: Drive into Banjul

We will drive into Banjul and hop on the local ferry to Barra, we follow the north bank of the river Gambia, making a market stop at Farafenni, visit the mysterious stone circles at wassu and learn what is known about them before Cruising Further Down the river Gambia where we might see wild Hippos and, Crocodile’s we pass baboon island keeping a sharp eye for Chimpanzees that live on the reserve. Our accommodation is at baobolong camp. After breakfast then we go to Georgetown taking in the sights and discover what was once the Gambia’s Capital on our return across to the south bank you will visit a school and a local family then check into Bintang bolon Lodge This is in a beautiful setting amongst the mangroves at the edge of Bintang Bolon.

Day Five: Breakfast in Bintang Bolon

After our breakfast in Bintang bolon we have boat trip to Kunta Kinteh island. Our first stop will be at Albreda, where you will see the freedom flag pole and also visit the slave museum. The essence of stopping here, is to explain how the freedom flagpole came into being, which is nowadays one of our national monuments since 1970. From here we proceed on top Juffureh and visit Kunta Kinteh village and see his 7th generation family members, back to the boat for a lunch break. After lunch We continue with the boat to visit the Fort James Island the slavery house and see where they keep them. Then back to the lodge for shower get ready for dinner by 20:00 with bit of entertainment

Day Six: Makasutu Cultural Forest

Today, we will head to makasutu cultural forest. Makasutu is a fabulous palm forest situated on the banks of Beautiful, meandering tributary of the river Gambia. There will be a professional forest guide who will guide and educate you about the ecosystem while on the 45 minutes boat trip and the forest walk. During this tour in Makasutu you will spot baboons, different species of birds and natural vegetation. You will also be able to visit the fortune teller who does palm reading. And you will visit a wine tapper who will give you the opportunity to taste the palm juice. Get the traditional Gambian lunch  and then head  back to your hotel.

Day Seven: Banjul Highlights

For this day, you will go for the Banjul tour. Visit the ARCH 22 which is one of our national monuments, The July 22nd Arch is a monument that spans the Independence Drive which is the road that leads into the Gambia’s capital. A good reason to visit the monument is for the panoramic views you get of the city from the top floor terrace. Here you get a better idea of the place as an island city, encircled by the ocean, the River Gambia and parts of the Tanbi mangroves there you will have a better view of the capital. Then drive-to the national Museum, Albert Markets. There you will see the local women and men selling food stuffs, clothes and also Gambian women in their colourful dresses. Finally, we end the Tour with a lunch break at Lamin Lodge. This is where the Ouster factory is located and the shelling of Ousters takes place quite interesting exercise because when they finish, they turn it to white cement. There is descent restaurant right on the sea with mangroves surrounding you.

Day Eight: Leisure Day at the Beach and Senegambia Night Life

Today you will have time for yourself to enjoy the beach, you can participate in optional activities at your own cost. We recommend the great nightlife which is a must-do to young travellers. To those who are not into the nightlife, they join cultural day trips during the day.

Day Nine: Departure

After breakfast, the guide will transfer to the airport to fly back home.
