Seven Days Mauritius Holiday

Day One: Arrival

Upon arrival at the airport, the guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris will welcome you and the transfer you to the hotel for the dinner and overnight at Le Flamboyant. You may go for the optional Sunset Cruise.

Day Two: lle Aux Cocos

On this day, you will take a boat to the Ile Aux Cocos which  is situated on the west of the Rodrigues Island to the small fishing village of Pointe Diamble. The boat trip to the Island takes around one and a half hours. Upon your arrival to Ile Aux Cocos, you will have a guided tour of the island, travelling the length of the island which is about one and a half kilometer long and 250 meters wide. A small path travels through the center of the island allows you to discover the different species of birds. The most elegant one is the white tern (Gygis Alba), which is quite rare in Rodrigues. Some of the species are migratory birds, like the sooty terns, which the people of Rodrigues have nicknamed “yéyé” due to their thundering cheeping. they come and stay on the island during the summer. It is estimated that about 4500 birds can be seen on Ile Aux Cocos at any moment, guaranteeing a very unique experience for any visitor of the island. Then later get back to the hotel for dinner and overnight at Le Flamboyant.

Day Three: Giant Tortoises Park Caves

This morning, you will go to the Giant Tortoises Park which is situated in the southern part of the Rodrigues Island seated on a 20 hectare nature reserve where you will enjoy a unique experience of discovering more than 110,000 endemic and native plants as well as the giant tortoises. Later proceed to the caves below the surface, you will discover a network of eleven caves, the largest of which is 500m in length and which is called Grande Caverne. You will see the beautifully illuminated stalactites and stalagmites, formed over thousands of years. Later head back to visit the museum which exhibits a real size sculpture of one of the extinct species of giant tortoise once found on Rodrigues, as well as carapaces of different species of tortoises. You will also see many of the bones found in the caves of the reserve of various extinct species such as the solitaire (a relative of the dodo of Mauritius

Day Four: lle Aux Chats and Hermitage Island

Today after breakfast, you will start from a village called Songes situated in the South East of Rodrigues Island. Take a small boat to discover the south coast of the Rodrigues Islands of Ile Aux Chats and Hermitage Island. The boat will stop at a nice place called Couzoups for swimming and snorkeling in one of the best-snorkeling sites on Rodrigues Island.  The proceed to Ile aux Chats for you to enjoy some free time on the island and have lunch. After lunch, continue to Hermitage Island. You can climb to the top where you will enjoy a wonderful view of the turquoise lagoon and the surrounding islets. Later, you will sail back to the embarkation point.

Day Five: Rodrigues City Tour

For this day, you will go to the panoramic view at Mont Limon, Tour of the Cathedral of St Gabriel, Viewpoint of Point Pompey, Visit of the ‘Caverne Patate’ caves and Coral Quarry, Visit the shrine, Reine de Rodrigues and sacred site Pajérôme, Mont Pistache and the Cascade Pistache Waterfalls, Visit to Port Mathurin– The capital of Rodrigues, Visit of a typical Rodriguan house. Rodrigues, being of volcanic origin, is a mountainous island with a succession of hills and valleys, offering a magnificent panorama with a rich fauna and flora. This excursion is definitely one of the most recommended tours when visiting Rodrigues.

Day Six: Leisure

You will have leisurely breakfast and then relax at the beach or book a full day spa treatment. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel

Day Seven: Fly Out

After breakfast, the guide will transfer you to the airport to connect to your international flight back home.
