Six Days Cape Verde Holiday
The highlights of this holiday includes visiting several colorful fishing villages, Climb Monte Verde, Snorkeling among sea turtles, Have Cachupa, the national bean and corn dish.
Day One: Arrival
Upon your arrival at airport, the guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris will welcome you and then transfer you to the hotel for overnight. Dinner and overnight at Sao Vicente Kira’s boutique hotel and Casamarel or similar hotel.
Day Two: Full Day Island Tour
After breakfast, you will go out on a full day trip. The guide will take you to the places that form the soul of the island. The guide will explain about life in Cape Verde and what “Morabeza” and “Sodade” mean. He will tell you facts about Cape Verdean culture. Cape Verdeans are an open population, proud of their country and happy to share it with travelers. Proceed to Monte Verde, the highest mountain on Sao Vicente. The roads meander through the rugged lunar landscapes over hilltops and past extinct volcanoes. You visit several colorful fishing villages where you get a glimpse of daily life on the streets. You climb Monte Verde, the highest mountain with panoramic views of the island where a local makes home-brewed liquor and tea. Lunch is included and provided at a restaurant near the beach in the village of Calhau. Free time is provided for swimming or relaxing on the waterfront in the village Baia das Gatas. If time permits, check out the two great viewpoints in Mindelo city. Later head back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Sao Vicente Kira’s boutique hotel and Casamarel or similar hotel
Day Three: Tour with Degustation Snorkeling with Turtles
Today after breakfast, the guide will take you along the most important places in Mindelo. You will go to a beautiful roof terrace. Here you will enjoy a degustation of Cape Verdean products including goat cheese, papaya jam and couscous.
Later, proceed to Snorkeling among sea turtles in their natural habitat which is a magical experience. Sao Vicente is the only Cape Verde Island where you can swim with turtles in the ocean. With a local fishing boat you depart from the beautiful beach of Sao Pedro. After a short ride, you will soon see the first heads emerge. Take a few pictures and get ready to jump into the water. The guide will go into the water and show you how the turtles swim gracefully around you. Later head back at your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Sao Vicente Kira’s boutique hotel and Casamarel or similar hotel
Day Four: Cultural Tour to San Antao
On this day, you will visit the pottery, a small school and rehabilitation center, the workshop of a famous guitarist and the lively neighborhood of Monte Sossego. For lunch, you will have Cachupa, the national bean and corn dish at a local bar. After lunch, you will board a ferry to San Antao. Arrive late in the evening and be transfer to your accommodation in San Antao. Dinner and overnight at Sao Antao Kira’s boutique hotel and Casamarel or similar hotel
Day Five: Hiking Cova Volcano Crater and Paul Valley Descent (10km)
This morning after breakfast, the guide will take you to the middle of the island which is the starting point of this hike of the extinct volcanic crater of Paul. The hike starts at the top of the crater where crops including sugarcane and corn are grown. Once you pass the crater follows the beautiful descent of the Paul Valley. Enjoy during the descent magnificent views over the agricultural fields and green vistas in the valley. You finish the descent with a lunch full of homegrown products. Dinner and overnight at Sao Antao Kira’s boutique hotel and Casamarel or similar hotel
Day Six: San Antao and Departure
After breakfast with views of the San Antao island. You will be transferred to the port for a ferry to connect to San Vincie to continue with your onwards flight.
