Six Days Mauritius Holiday

This tour allows you to visit attractions such as Le Caudan Waterfront, Aapravasi Ghat, Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, and The Chateau de Labourdonnais.

Day One: Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be picked by your guide from Afrikan Wildlife Safaris who will then transfer you to the hotel.  Depending on the time of arrival, you may visit Port Louis, the capital city and enjoy magnificent views over the town and its harbor from the old citadel. Take a walk that starts at the Saint Louis Cathedral and continues to the noisy and hectic central market. You will also see the Supreme Court, the Municipal Theater, Poncini, the Parliament, Place d’Armes, and Government House.

Day Two: Atle Caudan Waterfront, China Town, Jummah Mosque

This morning, you will go to Le Caudan Waterfront, Port Louis. Le Caudan Waterfront offers a unique shopping, leisure and work hub in the capital on the water edge. Explore the China Town filled with shops, many being over a hundred years old. Proceed to The Oldest Mosque in Mauritius, Jummah Mosque, The building combines Indian, Creole and Islamic architecture. The Jummah Mosque houses the remains of Jamal Shah (a pirate from Kutch, India) in a marble tomb next to the mosque.

Day Three: Aapravasi Ghat

Today, we will go to the Aapravasi Ghat which is the remains of an immigration depot. the site from where modern indentured labor Diaspora emerged. The Depot was built in 1849 to receive indentured laborers from India, Eastern Africa, Madagascar, China and Southeast Asia to work on the island’s sugar estates as part of the Great Experiment.

Day Four: At’chez Tante Athalie

For this day, you will head to the north to ‘chez Tante Athalie’. This authentic Mauritius restaurant in a family orchard serves traditional Mauritian food. Eat delicious creole specialties, coconut chutneys, rougailles, deep fried slices of exotic vegetables.

Day Five: Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens

After breakfast, you will drive through Moka, Saint Pierre, Nouvelle Decouverte, Les Mariannes, and Long Mountain on your way to the magnificent Pamplemousses Botanical Garden. This site is noted for its variety and the rarity of its species. Take a leisurely walk along the shady, well-kept avenues and enjoy the garden’s beauty.

Day Six: Chateau de Labourdonnals

For this morning, head to the real jewel of the Mauritian heritage. Built in 1856, the Château de Labourdonnais was inhabited by a Mauritian family for over 150 years. The beauty and historical character of this unique colonial monument, which has long aroused visitors’ interest, has led to a reflection on its cultural and historic value, as well as that of the superb estate on which it was located. After exploring for around half an hour you will embark on 20 mins drive back to the Port Louis to the hotel or to the airport to fly out.
